When we began planning our Memorial Day promotion at Poetry Tack & AG, we were doing what most businesses do: running numbers and figuring out discounts.
As my manager and I sat together calculating prices on several products, something unexpected and completely unintentional happened. One by one, the discounts kept coming out to the same amount: $2.50.
At the same time, I was working on design ideas for our Memorial Day flyer. My manager looked up from the calculator and said, "Look at that! All the products are discounted by $2.50. That's 250 for 250 years. We have to incorporate that into the design."
I knew she was right. What started as a simple pricing discussion suddenly became the heart of the campaign.
It was no longer just a discount. It became a way to recognize 250 years of American service, sacrifice, and courage.
As I began designing the flyer, I wanted it to be more than a promotion. I wanted it to reflect the meaning behind the holiday itself. The patriotic colors to the imagery and design elements were chosen with the hope of creating something respectful, thoughtful, powerful, and worthy of remembrance.
The connection between $2.50 and 250 years of American service gave us an opportunity to honor our nation's history in a meaningful way. Rather than focusing solely on savings, we chose to focus on gratitude.

Our $2.50 for 250 Years promotion serves as a small tribute to those who gave everything and to the families who continue to carry their memory forward. While no sale can ever measure the value of their sacrifice, we hope this promotion encourages us all to pause, reflect, and remember why Memorial Day exists.
Memorial Day is often associated with the beginning of summer, backyard barbecues, and long weekends. But at its heart, Memorial Day is a day of remembrance.
It is a day to honor the men and women who gave everything for our country. It is a day to remember those who never came home, whose stories continue through the families, friends, and communities they left behind.
The greatest sacrifice is not measured only by the life that was lost. It is also reflected in the empty chair at the dinner table, the stories shared by loved ones, and the generations forever impacted by that loss.
As we reflected on what Memorial Day means our promotion became more than a sale. It became a small gesture of gratitude and recognition.
To the families carrying the memory of someone they love, we see you.
To those honoring a parent, spouse, child, sibling, friend, or fellow service member, our hearts are with you.
And to all who have lost someone in service to our nation, we recognize that their sacrifice can never truly be repaid, and we are forever grateful.
From all of us at Poetry Tack & AG, thank you for allowing us to serve this community. Today, and every day, we remember, we honor, and we are grateful.
